China to meet with Korea in 2013 Sudirman Final

As per alot of people expectation, YES, China will be playing against Korea in the Sudirman Cup 2013 final tmr.

Korea won 3:1 to Thailand and step into final while China also won 3:1 to Denmark to meet up with Korea.

While we are waiting for the final line up from both teams, the only changes we predict will be make in tmr final will be Mens' doubles for China. Due to 2 losts from Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng, will China still consider to use this 2012 London Gold Medal pair for tmr final to play against Lee Yong Dae and Ko Sung Hyun ??

Korea already put up their strongest lineup today vs Thailand so there shouldn't be much changes to them however China, they can have a choice of Xu Chen/Ma Jin for mixed doubles or Zhang Nan/Zhao Yun Lei to play against Ko Sung Yun and Kim Ha Na.

What an interesting Sudirman Cup we had this year !!!

2013 Sudirman Cup China beat Indonesia by 3-2

2013 Sudirman Cup China beat Indonesia by 3-2

Today China and Indonesia put up a good show in the quaterfinal as China only beat Indonesia by 3-2.

That is no doubt that China didn't had a big advantage towards Indonesia today as they lost a mixed doubles and men doubles in this quanterfinal.

Indonesia's youngsters showed that they are well prepared for this Sudirman Cup for all events.

Not until women single and doubles that China finally found their advantages.

Overall, big thanks to both teams for demonstrating the highest level of badminton games today..

3 cheers  to both teams....hooray hooray hooray

Table-Tennis (Ping-Pong) News: Leading Chinese quartet power into last 16

Reigning champion Zhang Jike of China eased through to the last 16 of the World Table Tennis Championships in Paris on Friday after seeing off compatriot Fan Zhendong.

The fourth seed and Olympic title-holder cruised to an 11-9, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5 victory over world number 38 Fan to set up a fourth-round meeting with Robert Gardos of Austria.

Meanwhile, top-ranked Xu Xin made short work of Portugal's Tiago Apolonia, sweeping aside his opponent 11-8, 11-0, 11-8, 11-7 to earn another shot at Portuguese opposition in the form of Marcos Freitas in the next round.

Second seed Ma Long beat Slovenia's Bojan Tokic 11-6, 11-5, 12-10, 11-8, while 2009 champion Wang Hao moved comfortably through to round four after coasting past Iran's Noshad Alamiyan 11-7, 11-5, 11-2, 10-12, 11-3.

Top European Timo Boll of Germany fended off a gritty display from Sweden's Jens Lundqvist, 61 places below him in the rankings, to advance 11-6, 9-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-4, 11-8.

"My opponent played quite well today. I had a feeling I was in good shape then suddenly it was two games all," said Boll.

"I didn't feel that I had played badly, but I think in the end I deservedly won. I played at a good level.

"It's not easy for me to find my rhythm in the first rounds. I'm in good form and I'm fit, so I hope I can go further," added the world No.5.

London 2012 bronze medallist Dimitrij Ovtcharov joined compatriot Boll in the next round after defeating Hong Kong's Tang Peng.

Japan's Kenta Matsudaira followed up Thursday's shock victory over veteran Chinese star Ma Lin by battling past Chiang Hung-Chieh, but there was better news for Chinese Taipei as sixth-ranked Chuang Chih-Yuan stayed in the hunt after knocking out South Korean Cho Eonrae.

Earlier, defending women's champion Ding Ning cruised into the quarter-finals of with a 11-8, 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 whitewash of South Korea's Park Seonghye.

The top seed will now meet Ri Myong Sun in the last eight on Saturday after the North Korean overpowered Liu Jia of Austria.

Second-ranked Liu Shiwen also advanced untroubled, making light work of South Korea's Seo Hyowon as the two-time World Cup winner coasted to an 11-4, 11-7, 11-7, 11-5 victory.

Reigning Olympic champion Li Xiaoxia emerged triumphant in her duel with compatriot Chen Meng as she won 11-6, 11-6, 11-3, 11-9 to set up another all-Chinese affair with Wu Yang, who defeated North Korean Kim Hye Song, in the quarters.

Olympic bronze medallist Feng Tianwei of Singapore, the highest non-Chinese entrant in the women's draw, saw off a plucky display from world No. 89 Tetyana Bilenko of Ukraine to prevail 11-8, 11-6, 9-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-9.

Zhu Yuling was locked in a titanic sixth-game battle with Hong Kong's Jiang Huajun before eventually progressing 11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 21-19.

Zhu appeared to be on the cusp of a last-eight berth up 9-3 in the fifth game, but the 18-year-old wilted badly and allowed her opponent to rack up eight straight points to stay in the match.

"Jiang Huajun is a very experienced player", said Zhu.

"I was really disappointed that I lost those points and it took me some time to adjust in the sixth game.

"I just tried to focus on playing one point at a time," added the two-time world junior champion, who finally closed out proceedings on her sixth match point.

World No.7 and top-rated European Shen Yanfei of Spain wasn't as fortunate however as she was sent packing by 101st-ranked Melek Hu of Turkey 6-11, 13-15, 11-9, 13-11, 11-5, 11-6.

Expansion and innovation part of Wimbledon Masterplan

As usual Wimbledon continues to improve, expand and innovate and the decision to remodel Number One Court, while expected, is an exciting development.

It certainly stretches Wimbledon's advantage as a Grand Slam venue ahead of Roland Garros and Flushing Meadows, neither of which has a single covered court.

The Australian Open continues to expand impressively - a third covered court is expected by 2015 - but the French Open keeps delaying its politically-complex redevelopment and the US Open, let's be honest, is an omnishambles.

We'll have to wait for the new look Number One Court - 2019 is the anticipated opening as part of a restructuring of the grounds - but that's because Wimbledon do things the right way.

They examine every possibility and pitfall before making decisions, budgets are calculated meticulously and designs provide solutions to every problem.

The Wimbledon Masterplan, as they have called it, will include installing the same air-conditioning system into Number One as in Centre Court, to protect the grass, putting bigger seats into the stadium and probably adding a couple of rows at the back to keep the capacity about the same.

There are many other ideas; more space around the outside courts, some of which will move position, a new welcome experience for spectators coming through the gates and the knocking down of the old Aorangi Pavilion, by the practice courts.

Most of all, I enjoyed hearing Philip Brook, the All England Club Chairman, address an issue which has been a campaign of mine in recent years. He wants to look at ways to open up more of Court 2 and Court 3 to ground pass holders and this is brilliant news.

Often the people who buy the tickets for these courts - many available in the turnstiles at the start of every day - are more interested in cruising the grounds than sitting on these minor show courts. The ticket just gives them a guarantee of a seat when they want it.

And because the ground pass section on Court 3 has been so small, when it hammers down with rain, spectators are reluctant to give up seats because they'll never get them back them.
It makes sense to create fantastic atmospheres on these super little stadiums but you need a full house and that's only possible with the ground pass holders' help.

As expected the players will be significantly rewarded this year with a massive 40% increase in the prize pool, up by £6.5m to £22.6m.

All four Grand Slams have been under pressure for the past couple of years with the players calling for a greater slice of the total tournament revenue. They are certainly getting their way.

And while the champions will get a cool £1.6m, this debate has never been about making Roger Federer or Andy Murray richer. It's about rewarding the players who work all year to get their ranking high enough to get into tournaments such as Wimbledon.

Some, ranked between 100-150 in the world, claim it's hard to break even on the tour such are the expenses of professional tennis. So now losers in the first three rounds will see their prize money go up by more than 60%. Again, surely no further complaints.

But while these rises will be welcomed by the top 100 players, qualifiers and British wild cards (what a year to get a wild card, £23.5k even if they lose), what about the hundreds of professional tennis players around the world who for now can only dream of one day making it to SW19?

As rewards soar at the top, prize money stays the same at challenger and futures level and tournaments are getting cut back.

The job for the young player ranked 200 and below has just got that much harder. As costs increase, prize money stays the same at that level. And - crucially - the rises at the top mean more 'veterans' are likely to stick around for longer to milk the rewards. How are these young players meant to crack it?

Tennis, as always, needs to take a wider look.
